Christmas shopping
« on: October 30, 2006, 03:24:21 pm »
Okay, according to some we should all have started this in August, but it's November tomorrow, so I imagine many of us are starting to seriously think about it. Have you started yet? Do you have a lot of people to buy for? Or do you think it's all over-commercialised and feel like skipping the whole thing?

Over-commercialised. I havent started yet and probably won't until December.

I buy things throughout the year so that people get something worth having. I focus mainly on the children and buy them creative or imaginative things rather than gimmicks.

For adults, I tend to make up luxury hampers of food or bath products. I am a great fan of useful and attractive gifts from Oxfam's range.

Old but spicey!

BHS is a great place for last minute shopping as they reduce their gift sets close to Christmas.

Oldspice it sounds like you give lovely gifts

I really appreciate it when someone has taken the time to think about what I would like and what I would find useful; I know that's how I decide what gifts to buy. For me the choosing and giving to others is much more exciting and enjoyable than the receiving.

I don't have many to buy for but I have found a couple of small bits already. I do a lot of shopping on the internet so have to shop a bit in advance to make sure it all arrives in time.

i'm like Oldspice i buy all year round..

i focus more on the little ones at Christmas and try to give them fun educational toys..

i have some folks overseas i buy for..so i have to get them bought, wrapped and sent off by mid November..

altho i do think Christmas is over-commercialised i would never feel like skipping the whole thing..i just think it's a shame some parents feel they have to go into so much debt to make thier child happy..

There's some lovely things in the shops today but the queues are massive. I've bought quite a few things for myself as I do each year and I put them in the back of the wardrobe then if I am disappointed with my presents this year atleast I have bought myself some nice things to open on boxing day.

I will start my Christmas shopping in early December.

Like lou I think it's better to shop for yourself than others - at least you know you'll get something you like.

I will do my shopping in New York in December.  I refuse to even think about it now.

I bought two presents today, not through any sense of organisation, but because it was extra points at M and S!

There's so many 3 for 2's about in the shops that everyone may get a little extra this year.

That should be a tagline: "get a little extra this year".
