seeing as we're on the subjkect of halloween and all things spooky, i was wondering what everyone's fave scary movie is? i've always loved films like (the original) 'texas chainsaw massacre', and 'the wicker man'... but they never really 'scared' me.

the ONLY movie to ever evoke a scream and behind-cushion-hiding out of me is 'The Grudge'. jesus - that one really terrified me.

so what's the scariest flick you've ever seen..?

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

I don't watch scary films but I did watch Ghostwatch when it was 'live' on TV that time and it scared me.

I don't watch them. I am too easily scared.

I can't be bothered with them. A few months back I saw Final Destination 3 and just found it utterly pointless.

What I mean is it was just gore, for the sake of it - there was no plot to speak of, no decent plot development, dialogue or characterisation. That's what I think makes a film worth watching.

You're obviously not a horror fan Half of the films I watch have no plot development and atrocious acting.

Carrie was reasonable in terms of characters and a half-credible story. The end was also a surprise but I agree that most horror films are gore for the sake of it.

But they're meant to be! That's what people who watch them want - some brainless fun. Same with many action films - people often just watch them to see things being blown up.
