I find if I wear pink or red boots people always make a comment. They say things like "ooh look at those pink boots you have on" as if i will look down and say "how did that happen" or "where did they come from"

Indeed you are correct. Grundies (as in Reg Grundy, the Australian TV producer) are underwear.
