I have come into work in a bright pink T-shirt.  The lads in the warehouse all say I look gay.  I thought that the asscoiation between pink and femininity/effeminacy was long gone.  Are they living in the Dark Ages or am I being naive?

I don't want to sound like I'm stereotyping, but the lads who work in our warehouse would probably say exactly the same thing judging by the banter I normally hear coming from there. What I'm trying to say (without inadvertently calling everyone who works in a warehouse as a neanderthal!) is that traditional, 'blokey', beer-swilling, dart-throwing blokes might still think pink is 'a bit gay', but a lot of men are perfectly happy to wear pink and don't associate it with effeminacy.

We're all happy for you to stay pink Bounty!

Who needs karma when you know you're great already?

That's exactly how I would describe our blokes here.  Thanks for the support Smurfboy.

Smurfboy expressed it much better than I did.  I only meant that you were being naive if you expected joe public to share your much more enlightened views.  And if you're going to wear pink (and why not indeed) definitely go for the bright variety, not that apologetic 'barely there' pink!

My dad always told me never to trust a man who wears pink, lilac or lemon.

Yes, and I'm sure that at the time that was sound information given in good faith.  But we've moved on and I know I'm comfortable with my sexuality and if someone thinks I'm gay cos i'm wearing a pink T-shirt that's their problem.

Men in pink? It's a generational thing. Older people are more likely to equate pink with effeminateness. Personally, I don't like to see men in pink, not because I think it looks gay, but because it's just ingrained in my culture - like i don't like to see older women dressed up too young.

Anyway, what's wrong with being gay??

Women are soft and fluffy and smell of roses.  Men are hairy and tough with willys.  That's what's wrong with being gay.

It should be men and women together.  Except for lesbians like Tatu - that's OK.

What about a man wearing a pink t shirt with"I AM NOT GAY JUST COS I LIKE THIS COLOUR" printed on the front. Would that work?
