I think scaryman was only joking with what he/she said, but if you were being sincere scary, I think you should keep such views to yourself.

I am quite confused here. If Scaryman was making a practical suggestion for those wishing to kill themselves I think his opinion is valid if a little whacky(afterall, is it much different from the suicide clinics in Switzerland? ).  However, if he was 'only joking' then that is in very bad taste. Some of you seem to be saying the opposite. I think it is quite sensible to offer facilities for people to do away with themselves rather than doing it without warning all over the place resulting in a lot of people getting upset because they were not expecting it.

Old but spicey!

< Oldspice the voice of reason! I have lost a few mates who through one thing or another decided they had had enough and for the life of me I can never understand the reasons  But it was their choice and I cannot begin to rationalise the decisions they made.   but I will be taken kicking and screaming from this earth  as i appreciate this short warm moment that is LIFE.

Why do people always want to climb on top of the bridge in Newcastle and say they are going to throw themselves off into the water when it's 5pm and very busy. All the traffic is held up while the emergency services try to get the person to come down. Why can't they do it during the night when there is no one about? Are these people wanting an audience?

People jump off the Tamar bridge fairly regularly. If they jump into the water they sometimes survive; it's the ones who jump toward the riverbank who definitely want to die.

Have you never heard of black humour?

I think having facilities for people to do away with themselves is wrong because no-one should be encouraged to kill themselves. Being depressed is a condition that can be recovered from, it is not like euthanasia for people who are going to die anyway. If people are doing it 'without warning' as you say, that is better in my opinion because they are not guaranteed to succeed, and I dont think anyone should succeed in killing themselves since what they need is help and treatment to recover from their depression.

I know it's probably a silly question, but is there any chance we can put this argument to rest?

I don't think the thread needs locking - let's get it back on topic instead.

Was your DVD worth the wait 623? Would you order from Play again?

If they really wanted to die I think they would throw themselves onto a hard surface and not water.
