Is this a national treasure and something to get behind with unbridled whoopeee or is it a massive white elephant and a potential source pf great embarrassment?  If the Wembley Stadium/Millennium dome fiascos are anything to go by, do we have a gnat in a thunderstorm's chance of pullling this off for 2012?

Not everything has to affect Scotland!

Who needs karma when you know you're great already?

You really aren’t Happy today,

LIKE I said it wont even effect Lou in Tyne n Wear,  these Games are all LONDON!
and South east

what about OLDSPICE, doubt she get any benefits form it apart from a rising in
her council tax,
Even Cherry in deven/ Cornwall won’t see any benefit

maybe an tourist spending money in the country but that doesn’t; made jobs
unless there start day tour to Peterbourgh, or Newcastle, or Telford there
wont

There come to London
watch the games, if were lucky, half of them will visit Cambridge,
oxford, Brighton, Stafford, and Liverpool - for
the Beatles.

Also of were lucky were pay £50 for day
pass to watch some of the games

It might not affect the local economy in the places you list, but what about at national level?

I think if we were to host the olympics, it had to be in London.  That's not to detract from the splendours of Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Sunderland, Edinburgh etc but London is the capital city and is nearest to the main international airports.  For the powers that be, London is where it's at.

There is at least one other place that will benefit though, and that's Weymouth.  It will host all the yachting and sailing events.

However, my gripe is not that London is hosting it but whether it is practicable for us to host it.

Must admit I think that we will run close with getting things ready, but don't we always. ( I don't count Wembley because its a private venture)

Personally think the whole thing will be good for the economy, simply because it brings people here. When they are here they will spend money, which rocks.

Must admit I am not going to go and see anything, although we are going to try and go to the special olympics.

Also think that it might help with house prices because when it is over the Olympic village is supposed to be being turned over to affordably housing ( will beleive it when I see it)

By the special olympics do you mean the para olymics?  I don't get them.  I can never understand how they make sure people are equally disabled in any given race.  Also and I really don't intend this to sound mean or offensive but how does blind athletics work?  They have to have a runner to guide them, so isn't the fastest blind athlete only as fast as the fastest guide or have I missed something?
