David Beckham may have been dropped from the England squad but he's not allowing the
ignominy of the event to spell the end of 'Brand Beckham'.
Today
the superstar footballer and wife Victoria launched a range
of his-and-her fragrances exclusively in Superdrug stores nationwide
(an image from the ad campaign, right).
Dubbed
'intimately Beckham for Him' and 'for Her', the first batch
was delivered to the London Oxford Street branch of Superdrug at 7am by
lookalikes of the celebrity couple. As with Instinct, Beckham's first
eau de toilette for men which was launched in 2005, intimately
Beckham is made by the perfume house Coty, which has created fragrances
for Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion and Sarah Jessica Parker.
The new
intimate perfumes carry the "DVB" logo which, according to the Beckham
Fragrances website, has been: "Cleverly designed to incorporate his
initials". Both scents are be packaged in chunky glass cubes; the men's
fragrance is in a deep brown and copper bottle, while the women's
version is pink.
The Coty press bumph waxes
lyrical about how David and Victoria inspired the new fragrances.
Apparently, 'Victoria Beckham's easy going, down-to-earth personality
radiates her distinctive appeal and accessibility wrapped in an aura of
sensuality, sophistication and pure elegance. She brings together the
assurance of femininity, the softness of motherhood and the enjoyment
of friendship'.
Meanwhile, her husband is a
'portrait of modern masculinity, he is at home on the world stage,
among friends with the famous, and above all, at one with his wife and
children. David thrives on the intimacy of life away from the crowds
and cameras; revels in the relaxation of home life and adores the
special moments with his family.'
