Do you want a hand with your packing?
« on: August 02, 2006, 10:23:47 pm »
In Sainsburys today the checkout lady asked me if I would like some help with my packing. I thought she looked a little bored so I said yes. She then packed my shampoo and washing up liquid with my cauliflower and fish fingers. Stupid stupid woman.

I never get help with my packing because they always want to put about two items per bag, which is pretty useless if you don't have a car (not to mention bad for the environment).
Who needs karma when you know you're great already?

I agree Smurfy. They ALWAYS assume you're in a car and using loads of bags is such a waste. I like to pack my own shopping because it takes less time to unpack if you've planned the packing yourself.

I always do it myself because they tend to be a bit brainless when it comes to packing things. Some people don't even realise that heavy stuff should go at the bottom of the bag!

I'm a bit sad about the whole packing issue!

I have to put similar tings together on the belt so they all go through at the same time... e.g. household cleaning things, refridgerated bits, fruit and veg. Then it is easier to pack at the other end.

My husband thinks I am as mad as a biscuit and can't see the merit of my system at all.

I know it is extremely anal of me... but somehow when the rest of my life is in chaos I can at least feel my shopping bags are in order!!

You are completely right SM - I do exactly the same! there has to be a system in shopping or it is a total nightmare.

I'm the same usually. I always put the bottles and cans at the start, followed by lighter items.

I put my things on the conveyor belt in order too - especially if there's a BOGOF or 3 for 2, I have to make sure they're together even though I know it makes no difference when they're scanned!

I put all my dairy products through first, followed by bread, cakes and biscuits. Then it's fruit and veg, all cleaning products and last but not least petfood and catlitter. I have done it this way for 20 years.

Lou, if it were me I would do it the opposite way round. Surely cleaning products are heavier than the rest of the stuff?
