Favourite UK City/Town
« on: July 31, 2006, 11:06:14 am »

With the news that Bath has its spa back after many years and is expecting a new influx of tourists, what is everyone's favourite town or city in the UK and why?  The must-see list for all Americans seems to be London, Stratford and Bath so I'm sure they will be happy that there will be more to do and see at the Roman Baths.

I think my personal favourite is York.

I went to WEymouth for my holidays this year, I thought it was nice. But I have also been to Prestatyn and adored it.

the railway 'lines' are all still there, but a train hasnt run there in around 20 years or so. though there is new talk of a tram being added.

I'd say Norwich. However I do agree that the South West is lovely, not that different to the East actually, but more hills.

Rye in East Sussex is probably one of my favourite places, made nicer by watching the world go by as you eat local caught fish from outdoor cafe :)

If we're talking seaside towns then I can name dozens of favourites including Wells-next-the-sea (Norfolk), Dunwich (Suffolk), Port Erin (Isle of Man), Mevagissy (Spelling?? - Cornwall), Clovelly (Cornwall). Brixham (Devon) and the Northumberland coast.
Old but spicey!
