Is it possible to make a chocolate frosting without any dairy products ? I don't want to put the cake in the freezer all the time...

Some form of icing sugar would seem to be the answer. See Mary Berry's The complete Cookbook from any good bookshop, priced £25 or from one of those bookclub thingys who come round the office priced £3.99.
