I love car boot sales but I find it quite stressful selling when you open the boot and everybody practically climbs inside the car!  I've had many bargains from them and I agree with Oldspice that you have to pick your area carefully.

Except with eBay you have to pay a listing fee on everything and you risk it not selling. At a car boot sale people don't have to pay postage, you can negotiate, you can see the condition of things, you see things you wouldn't necessarily deliberately hunt for on eBay, and people are more likely to impulse buy.

I find E bay really useful, when you live out in the sticks like me, there's not many places you can get scarves for belly dancing for a fiver.

I like eBay too, but the reason I'm thinking of doing a boot sale is that I have a lot of stuff I don't think would sell well on there - bits and pieces that someone might pay 50p for, but doesn't have enough profit in it to be worth an eBay listing fee.

Old knives and forks are worth money! Look for real silver (not that hard to find), bone or ivory handles and things like apostle spoons.

In our cutlery drawer at work we recently found a 17century real silver spoon. How did that get there?? The place was built in 1948!!

Old but spicey!

Good thinking smurfy. Take along your old clothes and shoes too as people like that sort of thing.

It's set on the north bank of the Seine.   It's late afternon and trees are casting long shadows on the promenade.  Gay Parisians are walking along.  An onion seller with black beret can be seen in the background on a bicycle.
