I have consciously changed the way I speak over the years, now I don't have to think about it.  My girlfriend thinks I'm snobby because I say carstle and not castle.

I don't have any feelings about my genealogy, but I don't like the Nottingham accent.  It's one of the most horrid, chavvy accents in the country.

I don't really have much of an accent. There is a definite way of saying things in a janner (Plymouthian) way but it's not really an accent. In fact have never met anyone from Cornwall or Devon with a stereotypical 'westcountry' accent.

Like Oldspice said about the Brummie accent, I think the West Country accent has been charicatured by comedians and is not as strong in 'real life'.
