Would you drive off after hitting a car?
« on: June 10, 2006, 03:15:51 pm »

Paris Hilton is in trouble after hitting a parked car in Los Angeles and speeding off without leaving a note.Unfortunately for her the footage was caught on video by a quick-thinking video cameraman.

Would you/ have you hit a car an drive off if no one was about? I'll be first to confess I did once hit a parked taxi in a carpark and drove off without leaving a note.

My conscience wouldn't let me! I would hate it to happen to me.

Assuming I had actually caused physical damage of course.

I have not driven for over twenty years but I would not drive off because it has been done to my husband and it cost us a lot of money.

This is similar to my argument for the lost money.

Do unto others......

I am not religious either.

It may sound smug.

I simply think that we should treat people the way we wish to be, whenever we can of course.

There's plenty of dents in my car where people have nudged me and drove off. Someone managed to take off my wing mirror once and didn't leave me a note.

A guy at work said he once ploughed into a car across the road from a bus stop full of people.  He got out, as everyone was watching and took out a notepad and pen.

He wrote: 'dear driver I have hit your car and as I am being watched by a crowd of people I am writing this note so as to appear to be leaving my name and adress, which as you see I have not.'

I don't think it sounds smug. It's a sound ideology.

I would leave a note if I'd actually done some visible damage.  Otherwise I'd leg it.

Another urban myth. Everyone knows someone who that has happened to.

Who needs karma when you know you're great already?
