Idiots guide to comentator’s speak

With the World Cup nearly upon us, I though I'd make a light-hearted attempt to explain some of the commoner commenator terms for those not in the know.

Niggle  Not an intemperate commentator’s term for an African but a minor injury, which a player should recover from easily.

Intelligent ball  A pass from a player, which didn’t really achive anything but looked good.

The Interval  Posh term for half time.

Being made to work hard  Playing badly.

Got it all to do  Will probably lose.

The defense were caught napping  One of the defenders will be substituted at half time.

A good effort  A miss.

An off the ball incident  A punchup

Pulled off at half time  Not as pleasurable as it sounds.  Substituted.

It’s going to form  Brazil are winning

End to end means a flowing, attacking game with both teams having a share of posession.
