Star bars / original Boosts
« on: June 04, 2006, 09:43:45 pm »

Could someone please help settle an argument.  Is it fair to say that star bars are similar to an original boost but with peanut instead of coconut and maybe a little smaller? And are they both discontinued now or have I just not been shopping in the right places?

I have never had a Starbar but i don't think they are much like Boosts. Regular Boosts do not have coconut in them. They have caramel and a biscuity filling. I think they are vile.

Oh dear maybe I will have to admit defeat, i thought boosts were coconut.  I thought they were filling wrapped in caramel dipped in chocolate, one being peanut the other coconut.  Biscuit does sound more familiar.

I think they may have made coconut and peanut Boosts at various times but I only know the regular one.

According to my mother, who my dad used to buy a Starbar for every Friday, a Boost now tastes like a Starbar used to. Now Starbars have peanuts in, and so taste like Peanut Boosts. Peanut and Coconut Boosts died out in the earlier nineties.

Ironically Biscuit Boost was launched after the peanut and coconut varieties.

I thought I look for a Boost today as there is a timewarp mini independent supermarket on my way home.  I found one with added glucose, looked at the ingredients and couldn't work out what it would taste like so chickened out.  Are these any good?  I opted for a new Terry's bar that was caramel and a two parter but can't remember the name.

It tastes the same as a standard Boost. I only tried the Guarana one once and it send me a bit daft.
