Well I know it, but even I'm too young to actually remember it in the charts!

Yes, it's one of my favourite albums. To be pedantic she IS an excellent songwriter. She wrote 'The Reason' for Celine Dion.

I had to read your post several times before I could see why you were being pedantic! Then I noticed my past-tense reference to the great Carol King. Of course, she is still with us and still writing. It's just that, with Tapestry having been released 30-plus years ago, she seems to belong to my past. I love the song It's Too Late from that album.

Tapestry was one of those albums everybody had back then.  It seems to have long-since disappeared from my collection though.

That was always my favourite, but now I think I'm more of a 'So Far Away' fan. Gloria Estefan covered 'It's Too Late' on a covers album about ten years ago and she said she wore out three copies of 'Tapestry' as a teenager.

I think there are a handful of albums from that era that everyone had:

The Best of Bread - Bread

Songs in the (something? can't remember!!) of Life - Stevie Wonder

Tapestry - Carol King

Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd

My older brother has that Tapestry album and  Bread. While I have been staying at my mams I went in her loft and found a lot of Carpenter albums belonging to my brother and a lot of Bay City Rollers belonging to me.lol
