I used to too 623. It is really a false economy as you need more sheets to prevent "breakthrough".

I buy decent brands from the pound shop - cheaper than buying them from supermarkets, and no sore arse!

We buy the best we can get for the best price. When special offers are on we stock up. I still have memories of scratching my bum on the Izal my mum used to buy - AND - late night visits to a cold outside loo. Thank God for modern luxuries!

Was that the tracing paper stuff? We had outside loos at my primary school with tracing paper for loo roll. They were on the opposide side of the playground to the classrooms so you had to be very desperate to go!

I got the best value for money ones. Its usually Adsa Shades but if there is an offer on Andrex mum will get those ones instead.

We used to have tracing paper loo roll at school, it was awful!

I like a good quality loo roll, usually andrex. Particually keen on extras rolls free offers. The colour has to be white, not keen on coloured ones.

Used to buy ones made out of recycled paper, but I don't think it flushes away very well.... false economy recycled paper... wasted water!

It might surprise you, but nearly ALL toilet rolls and kitchen rolls are made of recycled paper.

I always buy white and if possible, unbleached but they are hard to find.

I think you are referring to Izal toilet roll.  It was shiny on one side.  Wipe your bottom on wrong side and it looked like you had been involved in a dirty protest.  My 'somewhat proper grandma' used to have it in the 1970's.  I think it must have come out in the war or something.  I can imagine they still have it in prisons.
