Over the years I have been very unlucky with hairdryers, kettles and irons blowing up. Anyone had similar bad luck?

My camera and laptop have both gone down the swanee within days of each other. My mother has the worst luck with electrical goods though. She's had more irons than Tefal and dishwashers and washing machines seem to spontaneously combust on sight of her!

I get through a lot of irons. After about a year, they go up in smoke! I think it's because I iron left-handed so the wires get muddled and twsited whilst you iron.

Two days ago my toaster broke; nothing wrong with the heating part of it but the handle dropped off the lever which pushes the bread down into the slots  Also my TV blew up a week before Christmas. I'm lucky if a kettle lasts 6 months in my house. They just don't make kettles like they used to

But I bought my hairdryer in 1989 and it is still going strong!

I brought my hair dryer in 2000 and its still fine. Our old Indicit washing machine lasted over 10 years!

We got through a lot of kettles and irons.

As one or two members know, I'm not impressed that my (very expensive) pc monitor died after 14 months.  I've now back using an ancient one that only just fits on the desk!

I'm waiting for Sir to find the receipt which I think is in its box in the loft somewhere.  I'm not venturing up there - it's full of spiders!

I change my hairdryer every 8 to 10 months. They always overheat or blow up.

My previous Hoover washing machine lasted for about 15 years, with very little maintenance. It served me well considering that for the best part of it's life it probably ran at least 5 times a week!

The worst part of the old one was that in the latter years the catch on the door broke, and you had to prise it open with a folk at the end of the cycle.

My latest one is about 18 months and takes some serious washing loads, especially with two boys playing for football teams.... mud city most weekends!
