Soft Cell, fronted by Marc Almond, did Tainted Love and it's one of the best songs of the 80s (mind you, that's not saying much!)

Chubby Checker's The Twist was apparently a cover version.

Oh, I can't stand that Gary Jules version of 'Mad World'. No way should it have been Christmas number one.

I thought Scissor Sisters' version of 'Comfortably Numb' was a great cover.

Andy the Binman from X Factor has his debut album out and they are all covers of old classics! This is wrong in my opinion.

I agree, they did the same with Steve Brookstein.

Chico's song is original but I'd rather listen to a decent cover version!

Not really - you get far less money from releasing a cover as the songwriter gets all the royalties. The artist only gets performance royalties which are far less significant.

Who needs karma when you know you're great already?

I just wish they would write their own songs and have a proper go at being a singer. Least Will Young has written his own songs and it shows

Eventually! His first single was a rejected Westlife track, his second a Doors cover and his third a Beatles cover!
