This show started in 1992. Judging by the music, fashions and plotlines of those episodes, they were set in around 1964. It is now 2006 and the show is still running - therefore Aidensfield should now be filled with punks and people should be discussing Maggie Thatcher and the three day week. Yet for some reason the women still walk around in mini-skirts and beehives and dance to Dusty Springfield. Can anyone explain?

It's just television.  The producers think we are stupid.

Smurfy - my family and I have laughed many times over this! We keep saying 'how much longer are the 60s going to last!'

Still, it's a nice bit of escapism so I don't mind. I like light, easy dramas and I particularly liked Doc Martin with Martin Clunes that finished recently.

I only discovered Doc Martin right at the end and wished I'd seen more of it.  Still, it will be bound to be on again.... goldencup38787.7186921296

I liked Doc Martin, but then the last episode of series two ended in almost the exact same way as the end of series one, and I get the impression we could be watching the same plots for years to come!

Given ITV's creative dept, their next is to be a military drama called Major Domo.

I was just dying for Doc Martin to wrap his arms around that school teacher, crush her meaningfully and longingly to his chest and whisper 'I never want to let you go my darling'.

With this logic - shouldnt Bart Simpson be about 25 by now... Yet there he is, on his skateboard as youthful as ever...

I know plenty of 25 year old males who still play on skateboards. Two of them live in my street and I wonder what their reaction would be if a few of us women went out there with skipping ropes and joined them.

Yes, but you expect it in a cartoon. They make a joke of it. When you draw someone as a ten year-old, you can keep doing it. Derek Fowldes has most certainly not stayed the same age since 1992!
