Stastically people are living longer and longer, meaning probably more and more people will get to meet and get to know their great-grandparents. How many of you ever met yours?

My mother's grandparents all died before I was born, but her grandad died just two months before, so it made her really sad that he never got to see me. My father's grandmother died when I was two, so I did get to see her but don't remember her.

Who needs karma when you know you're great already?

My dad's dad died before I was born, but apart from that all my grnadparents are alive, which is lucky really as I am 26 and a lot of people have lost all theirs by that age.

I knew all of my grandparents.  I knew two great grand parents; my Mum's Mum's Mum who was 89 when she died in 1969 and my Dad's Dad's Mum who was 94 when she died in 1971.

Incidentally, the last person alive who had a parent born in the 18th Century died in 1971.

I remember only my father's father who died when I was four.

On my mother's side my great grandfather died in 1914 and his wife ion 1912 so there is no chance that I would ever have met them!

Old but spicey!

Generally women are having children later so perhaps that cancels out some of the chance?

I still have my grandparents on my mum's side so chances are any children I have will have at least a great granny. In fact just last month my great aunt became a great granny.

Did you read about that Devon girl who became a mum at age 13? Her mum became a granny aged 35. Scary!

Good point... Bizarrely my parents were both born in 1951, were both the third child in their family, and both their mothers were 30 when they had them - meaning I had less chance of seeing my great-grandparents. My cousin is 40 and was my nan's first grandchild, so had her great-grandad until she was 14, and now her daughter is 10 and still has two great-grandparents.
