Chip and Pin
« on: January 28, 2006, 12:13:00 pm »

On February 16th every shop will have to insist on a chip and pin card.  They will probably refuse the option to sign the slip as they bear the cost of any fraud in the event that the card is stolen.

Do you know your PIN?

The cashier doesn't look at the card at all now as you put it in the machine yourself and remove it. So I think it would be much easier to spend on other people's cards if you know the PIN.

Great if you are doing shopping for Granny as you don't have to settle up later and she can still collect her points / airmiles / whatever. Not so good if your teenager takes your card down the offy!

Not sure if you can pay with a potato but you could use one as a battery.
