PLEASE HELP ME REMEMBER THE NAME
« on: November 02, 2005, 09:27:17 pm »
Hi All, I have found your forum in the hope of finding the name of an old and now discontinued chocolate bar. Me and many friends spent a whole evening in the pub remembering the names of all the vintage chocolate bars, all but one of which i've seen on your forum. The mystery bar that we all remembered yet could not name is one i hope from my basic description you experts can name for me. It was a bar like a lion bar or picnic but with no chocolate coating. When you opened it all the half peanuts were visible held down by toffee, this was a chewy bar with a centre not brittle like a 'Mr Tom'. It may jog your memories to remind you that every time you opened it a couple of peanuts would fall out. Please don't laugh but we all came to the conclusion that it was the original Star Bar! Please put us out of our misery. Thanks!!!

I remember this bar. It had a fudge centre. The wrapper was orange. It could have been an old Starbar. Was it Nudge? (A combination of nuts and fudge???)

Could it have been called 'Nutty' by any chance?

Yes I reckon it was a 'Nutty'.  Here's a description:

Nutty - 'The peanut-covered turd' simlar to Picnic, but came in a sort of brown-tinted transparent wrapper. Ads by Kenny Everett displayed an odd grasp of the laws of physics - "Rowntree's Nutty has so many nutty bits, it won't stand up on its end!"

I am sure that this was called a 'NUTTY BAR', i remember thus as a child eating this wonderful fusion of nuts and toffee, and the one redeeming feature was that the nuts fell out of it as soon as you opened the wrapper, it was in brown packarging, and had yellow writing on it, do you think this could be thee same ye look for!!!!
