Thanks gbliz.

Actually I really did think I have the early signs of dementia a few months ago because (and it's still happening) I kept losing the thread in a conversation and forgetting words that seemed to pop out of my head just as I needed them. I also have complete blanks where the spelling of certain words just goes completely and I can't even picture it or imagine how it is spelt. This happened in a staff training event where I had to write 'height' and could get no further than 'he'. Colleagues looked at me horrified because i am supposed to be a literacy specialist. It has only started to happen recently but it sometimes prevents me from writing what I want to write incase I don't notice I've made a mistake.

Old but spicey!

Seriously Oldspice, that's stress, I've been though exactly the same thing and actually had tests for MS because of it. (I had blurred vision too).  I'm ok now though.  A friend of mine who is a speech therapist says that if you're stuck for a word you should stretch your calf muscles and it's supposed to help - reflexology or something.  You might feel a little self-conscious doing this in front of a class though!

Thanks Goldencup. I'll certainly give that a try. Stress sounds alarming but it's certainly better than dementia! At 48, I'm no spring chicken but I am certainly not ready to go ga ga. One of my colleagues thought it might be related to my epilepsy, but I have not had a full fit for about 6 years and don't take any medication for it. Another said it could be hormonal (time of life!!!).

No problem Paulham. In fact, as I typed it, I thought why on earth do they call it the time of life but of course, that's a very old fashioned term for it.

Love the emoties.
