The queues here at the petrol stations are miles long and some have already ran out. Have you all topped up?

I am very lucky. I live just over ten minutes walk from my place of work and only two of us in an office of 9 actually walk to work. Hold on a minute - am I lucky? If the others can't get to work, who will have to cover their classes?

Remember 'snow days'? Can't you declare a 'petrol
day'? I used to love snow days, we used to go
sledging and playing in the snow all day. At least the
schoolkids won't be able to play with any petrol
though.

623058 don't you think £1 a litre is a bit expensive.I think the buses, taxis etc will be putting their prices up too.

I cycle to work, it takes about ten minutes.  I do need my car in the evenings though.

What are snow days?  Don't get me on snow again...

I think people often perceive driving to be more expensive than public transport.

Up until 6 weeks ago I did catch the bus to work. My journey is about 8 miles one way plus I have to negotiate a ferry ride across a river (oh the wonders of living in Cornwall and working in Devon). I was paying over £50 per month for a bus service which was always late or didn't turn up at all. When the bus did arrive it was very old (from the 1970s - and no, I'm not kidding) and often broke down.

Now I bring my car to work. I put less than £30 of fuel in last month and have always been on time. No way would I go back to public transport!

And no, I have not bought petrol since last week and won't buy any this week.

I get the train to work, I do not have an option there as I work in
central london but my boyfriend is a bricklayer and can be working on
serveral different sites a week. Last week it cost him £120 in petrol.
It crippling for people like that.

I have a scooter and a car. The scooter costs me
about £5 per week in petrol to do about 50 miles.
Goldencup, snow days are when we used to get the
day off school because it snowed.

In reposne to Loulou: No £1 a little is not to too much as if poele don't use some much cloogging up the road with 4x4 / gas graser and  siting in ques doing nothing then it would last longer, like a france / grecee?

£1 a litre is definately too much. Like I explained before, my
boyfriend is a self employed bricklayer. He lives in Aylesford (near
Maidstone) One week he can be in Beckenham, the next he can be in East
Grinstead. He relies on his car to make a living and his take home
money is decreasing. He drives a Ford Mondeo.

623058 you seem to like public transport but do you think buses run on fresh air?? And do you not sit in a queue doing nothing waiting for a bus?
