The hotel I am going to is in Newby bridge and I plan to go on the boat trip. I'm not walking.

I went there in August 2003 and we had thick fog and pouring rain, which spoiled it completely! Did go to the big Lakeland shop which was good if you like kitchen gadgets but not the reason I went there.

I stayed at Newby Bridge few years ago, I can't
remember the name of the hotel though. Beautiful
scenery, the hotels in the Lake District are mostly
very chintzy. I'm not a walker.....there are some very
nice pubs there.

Lake Windermere and its surrounding countryside is breathtakingly beautiful. The first time I went there was that very hot summer of 1976 and I went with a group of friends on a walking holiday for three weeks. It's just wonderful.

It brings back very sweaty memories for me. I was at
junior school and we used to have lessons outside
because the classrooms were too hot then the
teachers used to hose us all down in the school
playground to cool us off. I don't think that would be
allowed nowadays!

That sounds a bit cheeky! Were you in a classroom?
