People being ripped off over Texan bars
« on: September 02, 2005, 08:50:21 pm »

Am I the only person unhappy that people have been able to buy Texan bars in big quantities, only to try and sell them for over the top prices on EBAY?

I am not the only person struggling to locate and buy even one bar,and am not happy also with the way that Nestle has randomly seemed to select small places to distribute them.

The profits these companies make should surely enable them to have a big advertising campaign and to make Texans available at big places, even places like Woolworths etc, where they sell loads of sweets don't seem to have them.

It is strange the way the Nestle web page seems to be down in the Contact Us section at the moment, maybe they are fed up with receiving emails asking where people can get Texans! ?

I do not want to be forced to pay over the odds costs to get a bite of my beloved Texan bar,how many others feel like this!

Are there any rich people out there who would like to buy up a quantity of Texans and distribute ones out to the people who originally brought them ?????????

I am afraid it's the rule of supply and demand. If someone has a supply of something and others are willing to pay over the odds then so be it.

I agree that it's very surprising that Nestle have not launched a campaign to celebrate the return of Texan. I think they want to prove a point - that the sales are not high enough to sustain the producet. On the other hand - if shops don't sell them, how can people buy them?

Perhaps Nestle want shops to pay to have them on the shelves. This is an increasing practice nowadays. The multiples are expected to fund the launch of new products by paying suppliers large discounts.

Old but spicey!

Catch23, I'm not overly impressed with the new
Texans, maybe memories fade with age but
everyone deserves to try the new one. The
unavailability is getting ridiculous now. Send me your
address and I'll send you one so you can see for
yourself.

Nestle sent out a press release to the main on-line retailers around the 15th of August containing the official release date of the Texan Bar, a high quality .jpg image, the history behind the Texan Bar and information regarding the 'Retro Ringtones' promotion.

Many corner shops will be able to buy Texan Bars at their local cash and carry but they may not choose to buy them as they may of not heard of them before or feel they will not be popular with there customers. Next time you go into the corner shop..ask for them!

Our main confectionery supplier currently has 450 boxes! so theres no shortage at Britishcandy.com.

Maybe Woolworths are not stocking them as they dont see the point of selling a chocolate bar that is only available for 6 weeks.

I know someone who has a makro card, but the web site doesn't mention the sweets that are being sold, does anyone have an idea as to what cash and carries are stocking them?

Most cash & carries have pre-sold Texans before
they are delivered so they don't even hit their shelves.
I haven't seen any in shops in London. As
Britishcandy said, it's worth a shot asking your local
shop to keep an eye out for them when they visit
their cash & carry.

My local shopkeepers laughed at me and didn't believe Texans were here again. They will probably go looking for them in about 6 months time when there's none to be had.

I've had similar reactions from several places. I've
checked out many shops and supermarkets in
London and Texans are still not gracing their
shelves. As we say Up North, "they know nowt". Give
them a wrapper or show them a photo of the box, tell
them to look in the Nestle section at the cash & carry
so they know what they're looking for.
