a more accurate description:
late 80's. it was meant to run along side Treasure Hunt. basically, the idea was simple. 2 contestants (who were always thick as hell) would wear matching backpacks: one would contain a grand (ooooo!). one would be empty. they were locked, and their keys were hidden in odd places. the contestants were blindfolded and choppered miles away from each other. then, they were unblinded and let go. they had radio contact with Annabell Croft, who navigated them around (and always seemed to know WAY too much about their whereabouts.) basically, each contestant had to retrieve their partners key from some elaborate game, then meet back up with them before the clock ran out. only then could they try the keys and open the backpacks and retrieve the money.
SIMILARITIES TO Treasure Hunt: lots of choppers, a time-clock to beat, clues to follow/collect, ugly lycra-jumpsuits, begging members of the public for lifts and lots of bad camera-work. easy to confuse!
EASY, HUH? nooooo!
y' see, lurking in the midsts was a terribly camp man, dressed all in black leather and speaking a terrible scotish dialebnt. hwe had choppers, bikes and lots of money at his disposal... and it was his job to (ahem) 'INTERCEPT' the opponents. BUT HOW? on his wrist was a zapper-lazer, and a direct shot from his wrist onto a contestants backpack would LOCK the pack. oh - and he never knew which one had the money in, either.
so there it is - the BEST concept for a gameshow EVER. EVER-EVER. catch it on channel 121, challebnge-tv occasionally. it only lasted 8 episodes before it was cancelled. or check the website here: http://www.interceptors-lair.com/htmldocs/introduction/intro duction.htm
amazing stuff!
