Always a fresh tin of marrowfat peas and some fresh black pud, uncooked.

Yes you don't have to cook black pud to eat it. It's always raw when the pubs put it out on a sunday lunch time.

Technically, black pudding is already cooked before it reaches you the customer. Otherwise it would be red pudding!

Yes that is true. The only time I ever cook it is if I grill it and have it with breakfast.

How on earth did black pudding come about? Can you imagine someone standing in the kitchen thinking, 'mmm, what would be really delicious is some dried blood fried in lard...'

Cannot speak for tripe-I have never tried it.

However, good haggis is very agrreable. On hot buttered toast it makes a nice pate.

No, no.  Haggis is good.  Haggis spring rolls are excellent.  Like chinese spring rolls but filled with haggis.  Yum Yum.

Indeed, haggis is good! In the east of Scotland they have mealie puddings which are not entirely dissimilar to haggis, they are lovely too. We don't get them in England - they are not even available in the whole of Scotland - but whenever I visit my family I bring a load back for the freezer

Has anyone tried vegetarian haggis. My butcher sells it.
