Your happiness loves Cadbury
« on: October 25, 2004, 11:21:19 am »
Is it me or are these adverts totally weird?  I get the idea that my happiness loves Cadbury - it definitely does, and Mars and Nestle come to that! - but I just don't see my happiness as a sheep or a tiger. Anyone agree?

Absolutely.  And did you say you were a copywriter?  I used to be one.

I am indeed - in fact I should be writing about the joys of a digital camera as we speak...

I wouldn't go that far - I was a copywriter in a very minor capacity!  Glorified secretary really, but I have retained an interest in adverts.  As you say, you can't help noticing mistakes but I do try and ignore them, depending on where they appear.  (Mistakes in newspapers, books and on posters really annoy me though!)

Either that or you read into it, that they think women are big pussies and men are just sheep. Go figure!

I suppose the adverts have worked in that people are talking about them.  Somehow I doubt if they've made people rush out and buy more Cadbury's choc though...improving their products might have more effect.

I am glad I am not the only one to be puzzled (?) by these adverts. The animals do not seem to work for me. Also, the Coronation Street plug where the guy gives another guy a box of Roses. What's going on there? Are they father and son or a same sex partnership? It just doesn't work for me.

The Cadbury advert with the hyennas scares me.....

The woman who says 'Found something have we, my happiness?' just sounds EVIL!!

I doubt they are father and son seeing as they are about 2 years apart in age! I think the idea is they are mates and the one feels a bit embarrassed about giving his mate the chocs in case he looks 'girlie'.

Paulham you just inspired me to eat my very first Double Decker!  I can't believe I've never had one before as they've been around for ever but it was delicious.

Yes? They took raisins out the bottom years ago. Never been the same since!
