What are you all reading?

Times change though Lou. When my sister was little my mom dressed her up like a child from a Victorian Christmas card, and this was very much the fashion. This was about 15 years ago. My little cousins now - aged 10 and 9 - wear sleeveless tops with sparkly writing on and no-one thinks anything of it.

I seen two young girls in Newcastle on Saturday, no older than 12 wearing t shirts saying "I am still a virgin". I don't know wether I blame the parents, the shops that sell them or the clothes manufacturers or the designers.

on a similar note, my 11 year old neighbour wore a tshirt yesterday saying: "you think i look like a slut, you should see my mum!"

I have seen kids wearing t shirts saying "I am good in bed". There's a kids shop at the metrocentre got them all in.

I can't imagine any decent parent buying that for their child.

My daughter will be 17 on Wednesday. She will be going into the Upper Sixth Form when she goes back to school but I will not allow her to wear short skirts, low tops or make up at school. She is allowed to dress up when she goes out but must look respectable. Her friends appreciate the difference when they see her dressed up for the evening.

I was reading and looking at books before I went to School. My mum took
the time to sit down and look at books with me. My favourite was the
Enormous Turnip.

At the moment I am reading Patricia Scanlan, The Joy of Two.

When I was 13 I was wearing jeans and t shirts. I was allowed to wear
nail varnish at that age but not to school. I wore make up outside
school but again, not to school. I am a very girly girl so I did like
make up and painting my nails.

I can't even imagine my life without reading books.

If I don't read some everyday, I feel I lack something.

Choosing between CHOCOLATE and BOOKS would be very hardLOL

Now I'm reading Thomas Mann' s novels.

Death In Venice - a brilliant book and film.

I hope Posh's nanny is reading to the Beckham children because I think they will miss out a lot if the only reading material available to them is fashion magazines.

I can't imagine what conversation is possible with someone who has never read a book. What will she fall back on when her looks fade?

It's nice just losing yourself in a book. I have read most of Patricia Scanlans books over the past couple of months.

I would be lost without my book on the train!
