terrys (?) box of chocs with 3 drawers
« on: August 16, 2005, 02:34:26 am »
does anyone remember a box of chocs (perhaps by Terry's?) which had three drawers -I think that there was a colourful mix of chocs and candies...
Please help urgently as answer required to end ongoing conversation.

Yes that definitely sounds familiar but can't remember the name. Weekend is the obvious choice for a colourful mix of chocs and candies but I don't remember them coming in three drawers. Oldspice?

we thought that perhaps they were Terry's Allsorts - but this may only be a muddle of two other things (Terry's All Gold crossed with Bassett's licquorice allsorts - but I'm not sure)

I can see them in my mind, but the name is still eluding me!

I think you are thinking about a Christmas Special that was available every year and I think you're right to say they were by Terry's. What i think is that Terry's did an All Gold version of this very attractive box. My friend, whose family were much better off than mine, used to get one every year from her uncle. She used them for jewellery and nic nacs.

Weekend were made by Mackintoshes and were very much a cheap box budjet type of chocolate but they were very nice and much missed.

Old but spicey!

The only box of Terry`s chocolates that I can remember with a

number of drawers was Terry`s 1767 chocolates - all plain

Terry's 1767 were very strange chocolates. They were all different shapes. Some of them were very long, thin sticks and logs if I remember. Not many had soft centres either. Some tasted rather spicey as well.

Every Xmas back in the early 60's our boss at work Mr. Coker at USDAW in Newcastle on Tyne used to buy us girls in the typing pool a box of Terry's 1767, so named presumably because of the year Terry's came into production. They were fantastic but very expensive, also difficult to come by. I think very few were made and were snapped up quickly.

Hello to Pat, Shirley and Susan, past employees if you're out there and read this!

Pieye? Pieye? Is it really you? It's Shirley here! Pat and Susan live next door, having left their husbands and begun a lesbian relationship. Sadly Mr Coker was found hanging naked in a brothel with an orange in his mouth in 1997. So what are you up to these days?
