OK, I ADMIT IT! I AM BOUNTY HUNTER! TIZ TRUE! in that case, my fave song is 'YMCA', by those lovely, strapping lads in the nifty uniforms.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Don't listen to him, he doesn't have my finesse.

I think the greatest song ever written is 'What a wonderful World' when sung by Louis Armstrong.

The greatest song ever written is very difficult to answer for me because I would have to ask several questions. Am I going for lyrics?melody? originality? Are we talking pop songs? Classics? Blues? Rock?

Ideally, I would have to have a song for each category but all in all, if asked to choose a final song - I would have to say that the combination of blues, originality, orchestration and melody would point, for me, to House of the Rising Sun by The Animals.

'Saturday Night' by Whigfield. It captures so perfectly the youthful exuberance only the promise a weekend of freedom can create. And Sandi Carlson's performance is a triumph of understated emotion.
Who needs karma when you know you're great already?

Tears of a Clown - Smokey Robinson

Seven Seas of Rye - Queen

I Got you Babe - Sonny and Cher

Ever Fallen in Love (with someone you shouldn't have fallen in love with) - Buzzcocks

I Don't Like Mondays - Boomtown Rats

Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division

Freebird - Lynard Skynard

Yesterday - Beatles

The Last Time - Rolling Stones

Lay Lady Lay - Bob Dylan

Knocking On Heaven's Door - Bob Dylan

Day Dream Believer - Monkees

Giving It All Away - Rger Daltry

Some good songs there Oldspice.

House of the Rising Sun is a traditional song, and Bob Dylan gave it the melody that The Animals adopted.

I think 'Like a Rolling Stone' is the greatest song ever written.  It is incomprehensive that a human mind could come up with the lyrics in that song, it is so good.

I suggest you read them Hunter, before spouting any moye nonsense.  Louis Armstrong, what a joke!

I like your Boomtown Rats, Buzzcocks and Joy Division picks Oldspice, however I'm surprised you picked Bennie and the Jets over some of the other songs from Goodbye Yellow Road.

Tnaks Robbie. Goodbuye Yellow Brick Road is indeed a good album and the title track is especially good.

I thought of some more:

Whisky In The Jar - Thin Lizzy

Children of The Revolution - T Rex

Concrete and Clay - Unit 4+2

Handbags and Gladrags - Chris Farlow (the best version ever - played really loud)

Going Underground - The Jam

London Calling - The Clash

Time in a Bottle - Jim Croce

Dock of the Bay - Otis Redding

You'll Never Walk Alone - Gerry & Pacemakers

AND - anything by Janis Ian, Dusty Springfield, Rod Stewart
