I'm new to the site and was inspired by your obvious passion for the long gone and much lamented "Cabana" bar to join and add my support for an original and very enjoyable chocolate bar.

Unfortunately it appears to have sadly suffered the fate of  many quality confectionery of the seventies and eighties,  that of being deemed unsuccessful or unviable in an increasingly tasteless and cheap marketplace.

Nice effort regarding your approach to Cadburys but I suspect risk taking on what they regard as a tested and unsuccessful product is probably not high on their list of potential projects.

Who knows though, perhaps in the future, we can but hope.

I'm also new to this site and the reason i've joined is to say that by far the best chocolate bar i've ever eaten in my life was cabana.

I received an identically worded reply when I enquired about the recent discontinuation of Old Jamaica.

I'm not sure exactly what sort of palate Cadbury's are targeting these days, but it sure ain't mine!

All large companies pour money into research but I
think you'll find that the people invited to take part in
Focus Groups are carefully selected to back up the
most recent proposal of that company. If the
research results go against what they want to hear
they dig deeper in their pockets and commission
more groups until they hear what they want and can
therefore quantifiably justify what they were going to
do anyway.

Does anyone remember the Cabana's sister bar, the Melon tasting Cabana, it was with glassier cherries!!!  Or was this bar only available in our town, as many products are tried and tested in my neck of the woods, for obvious reasons!!!  We are the chocolatiers and foodsters of England!!
