Maple Chocolate Bars
« on: May 15, 2005, 03:28:59 am »
It would seem as though maple is the new specialty flavour for Canadian chocolate bars. Both Oh Henry! and Coffee Crisp are showing up in "limited" maple editions. I'm not sure what maple and chocolate would taste like, though the thought of maple Coffee Crisp certainly makes my mouth water.

Hey lemonzinger, funny, but also a little disturbing, is the fact that I was thinking the exact same thing earlier today. I also hear there's a new Caramilk Maple bar, but I'm more curious about that Coffee Crisp variant. Are you from Canada? Coffee Crisp Beans is another novelty that sounds like fun to eat. Have you tried it?

I am indeed from Canada, my dear. Though I've heard of Coffee Crisp beans, I haven't even seen them in stores anywhere. I myself love the French vanilla variant, and miss the limited raspberry one.

Ah well, on the sweet side of things, I definitely envy you. I didn't even know you had a raspberry Coffee Crisp, but French Vanilla sounds good, so I'm glad that's still around. A while back I tried the original one, of course I hardly remember what it tastes like now, only that it certainly did hit the spot. Compared with KitKats, which do you like best?

Anyway, when you finally do chance upon one of these new maple bars, be sure to leave us an update. Enjoy your Maple Leaf and Ah Caramel! in the meantime. I know I would...

Aw well, the envy's mutual. You lucky UKers have all sorts of KitKat varieties that I'd love to try. Here we've got original, dark, chunky, chunky white, chunky caramel, chunky peanut butter, vanilla, and strawberry (as well as the inside out and triple chocolate ones at specialty candy shops). I'd kill to try the lemon or lime ones you have! Although I love both CC and KK, I think I like KitKat a little more, which would explain why I'm so insanely jealous of you. *^^*

Aye well, I still think that a variety of flavours to choose from isn't much, if the chocolate itself isn't that good.

Having tasted a Canadian Mirage bar, for example (very very good this one was!!! by the way) I remember thinking it better than the UK Aero I have come to know and love , and though it wasn't exactly through empirical examination (I didn't try one of your Aeros, for that matter), I did kind of figure your chocolate is nicer over there.

Cadbury Caramilk Maple has to be made illegal.  They are just FANTASTIC.

You HAVE to try them.  ( I don't generally become effusive over chocolate bars but this one is REALLY good)
