I've always been a fan of DDP - the wrestler turned yoga guy who rehabilitated him - but never knew he was a miracle worker. Seriously looking into his 'system' now. (I have many lbs to shed and some joint issues which need to be sorted.)

Seriously, don't need it. I don't touch TV dinners or prepacked crap. Everything I eat is freshly prepared. Plus, when you eat really good choc, you don't need many squares per sitting. Oh, and I ditched the microwave for a blender and juicer.

There I go, blowing my own trumpet again...

I'm genuinely the same... everything that is cooked in this house is fresh and quality. I despise anything that needs to be microwaved and rarely touch any processed food (last resort only) - but it just doesn't work for me. Always had some weight/health issues and am looking to try something different, so maybe this will be something interesting to follow. We shall see.

I'm not into snobby choc though. Gimme CDM any day!

Usually, where there is a problem with weight gain, which leads to health issues, there's a psychological cause. I understand that this isn't the case for everyone, though. Sometimes it can be a control issue i.e. a person cannot control their environment, but they can control what they eat. Other times it can be a comfort issue i.e. a person was fed as a child by someone they loved and associates food with the comfort of love.

I'm not perfect by the way. I've got a very strong addictive personality and I've been battling it for years. Since I learned that I'm always scared that I'll miss out on something (because of my childhood) I've been getting better at battling it. Us humans can be so complex!

Hmm... not sure what my problem is then... probably just greedy bastard syndrome, lol. Nah, it's weird... my weight has been up and down all my life. I always eat well but don't over do it... I am out and about a lot so get exercise. It makes me worry when I see these 'fat' documentaries and they wheel out this glob of lard on a mobility scooter and go through what he eats every day and the list is always endless deep-fried nastiness and take-aways 5 times daily... and then they reveal his weight and it's usually less than me! I guess there could be something mental to it. Be nice to get to the bottom of it. Oh well, I'm determined this time to get on top of it and stay on top of it. We shall see.

The maths is easy. You can eat so many calories per day (2500 for men, 2000 for women). Eat less then that every day and you're a winner. Exercise more vigorously and you're definitely a winner.

I think one of the problems is that there are so many hidden calories in food. Alcohol is really bad!

Well, that's the way it 'should' work. Then there are people like me who defy science. Put myself on a 700 calorie a day diet and power-walked EVERYWHERE for a month. At the end of it... 3 lbs down. Big bloody deal! Veeeeery disheartening I must say.

3Ib down after that? I suppose that would be disheartening. Have you thought of increasing your cardiovascular exercise or is that not possible? You can use weights as well, although you find that fat turns slowly to muscle and you don't appear to be losing weight.

I used to be a gym bunny, but a knee injury put paid to that!

I used weights before but I just started bulking out when I should have been shedding. One thing I failed to mention is that the long term medication I am on is notorious for screwing up ones metabolism. Can't blame it all on this but it's something, I guess. I've been doing lots of research the last few weeks on new directions to go and I think I'm gonna try a combination of things. Need to be more active in different ways and push myself a little harder. We shall see. And I'm definitely gonna give the extreme yoga a try... if for no other reason other than being a big fan of the wrestler who created it.

Well, my DVDs arrived in the post today. The whole system also covers (seriously) healthy eating and a positive mental state. This should be quite interesting.
