Notting Hill carnival
« on: August 25, 2008, 08:05:39 pm »
Organisers are expecting more than 750,000 people to descend on the streets of Notting Hill to celebrate the 44th year of the west London street party.

The two-day celebrations have taken place around Ladbroke Grove on the last weekend in August every year since the 1960s.

Have you ever been to this carnival? I would love to go.

I went many, many years ago, before I had the children. It's noisy but fun.  I love festivals and carnivals and I'm going to one on Friday - the Rhythm Festival near Bedford.

Sounds fun oldspice. Will there be any famous bands or just local ones?

There are some famous bands from years back. It's mostly folky and old rock stuff. Here is the link.  http://www.rhythmfestival.net/

Yea, but we're camping so I hope we don't get torrential rain all weekend.

I've never been camping before. My friends went to creamfields in cheshire last weekend and they said they had their tent pitched in a very muddy field.
