Cadbury to reduce easter egg packaging
« on: February 23, 2008, 08:49:31 pm »

Cadbury is cutting its Easter egg packaging to be more eco-friendly, it has announced.

The confectionery giant is launching a new range of chocolate eggs wrapped only in foil - and without a cardboard box.

It has also said that packaging used for other Cadbury boxed Easter eggs will also be reduced.

The foil-only eggs plus the other packaging reductions will cut the total amount of plastic and cardboard used by Cadbury this Easter by an estimated 247 tonnes and 115 tonnes respectively.

Jo Grice, Easter senior brand manager at the firm, said the new new Easter range "strikes the right balance"

I saw these eggs without boxes in Tesco tonight and thought it was a good idea.

I think it's an excellent idea to cut down on the packaging of most things, and I hope other companies follow this example.

Less cardboard used means more trees left in the woods.

Hooray!
