Looking for Kalak (sp?)
« on: October 05, 2004, 02:29:03 am »

Hi ppl,

Try as I might, I can't find the white chocolate bar Kalak (I think that's how it's spelled). I'm in Calgary, Canada. Anyone have any tips on where I can order it? It's for a gift.

Did you say Kalak?  Ah, the evil leader of the Mekrons, not to be trusted.

Don't listen to Bounty.  Keelak is the leader of the Mekrons.  The Kelak are a race of harmless drones from the underworld on Squormsshellous Zeta.

If you ignore bird brains useful help, there is a bar by the name of Galak which is manufactured in Europe, I think, by Nestle. I have seen a white chocolate version in a store in this country, but it isn't readily available here. Hope this is some help.

It took me long enough, but Galak is the European version of Milky Bar.

From the ever so helpful Wikipedia:

Milkybar is a white chocolate confection that is produced by Nestlé and sold in Australia, New Zealand, India, Ireland, South Africa and the United Kingdom. It sold under the name Galak in Europe (except Spain, the UK and Ireland) and Brazil. Nestlé have produced white chocolate since the 1930s, and started using the brand Galak in 1967. In many European countries a version with puffed rice is also available.

Galak was promoted using the 1971 French animated series Oum le Dauphin Blanc (Zoom the White Dolphin), with its characters appearing on packaging and in commercials. In commercials, two children, Yann and Marina, and the white dolphin Oum typically overcome villains such as pirates or sharks. Nestlé terminated their use of this licence in 2003, though the likeness of Oum remained on some stocks sold in 2004, which led the series' owners to sue for royalties.

They're all dead now anyway.  Or, are they...

I preferred Tom Baker era Cybermen myself.
