Former Man City footballer Joey Barton stubbed a cigar out in the eye of a youth team player at the club's 2004 Christmas party. He is currently on bail for assaulting team-mate Ousame Dabo. He also has a conviction for assaulting a teenage fan. This week Man City have finally sold him to Newcastle for 5.8 million, and Barton demanded they pay him 300K to leave because - get this - he had a 'loyalty cause' in his contract by which he'd be paid compensation if the club transfer listed him. LOYALTY? Assaulting two team-mates is what passes for loyalty now?
I don't know who should be more ashamed; Barton, or Newcastle Utd, who upped their offer by 300K when Man City rightly refused to cough up to this nasty little thug.
