I watched this movie tonight.
Loved Johnny Depp in it. Very cute.Big%20smile

My question is, do any of you really think chilli pepper would go with chocolate, (for anyone who hasn't seen it, in the movie she puts it in some of the chocolates she makes and also grates it finely onto the top of some hot chocolate) and have any of you tried it?

Just curious to find out what you think before deciding whether or not to try it myself.LOL

chillii pepper? that'll never work!

i had some very odd tasting chocolate in spain once. it was indeed seasoned with some kind of hot chilli - and it was totally revolting. it burnt your tongue and tasted awful.

I've tried chilli pepper chocolate (someone got me a bar from montezumas), it's supposed to be 'posh' but honestly, for me, it completely overpowered the chocolate. I guess it's a good way to teach you to only eat a bit at a time, but I think your taste buds would be in a bad way by the end of it.

Before chocolate was ever turned into bars, it was taken as a drink with spices, including chilli. This is how the Maya people used cocoa beans and this is how Europeons first encountered chocolate. They bought it back to Europe, including Britain, and it was first consumed as a fashionable drink in coffee shops and enjoyed only by the very wealthy.

Old but spicey!

My sister had a chilli chocolate dessert once and I tried a bit - it wasn't entirely unpleasant, but I don't think it's something I'd choose to eat a lot of.

It works in reverse though - adding a little plain chocolate to chilli gives it a great flavour

Thanks for all your input ladies and gents.
I think I'll follow the majority and leave the chilli chocolate to the movies. LOL
