Fish and Chips again

Another question for you all..You go to the chip shop and want fish and chips. What do you ask for? I remember when I was very young my Grandad would ask for a paper (fish and chips). In the north we used to say a fish lot.lol

I have heard people call it a 'supper' but we just ask for fish and chips. If you ask for cod and chips the chippie corrects you and says 'fish' because it's not usually cod any more.

I just ask for cod and chips or skate and chips, whichever I am having.   Do you ask for a fish and chip supper at 1pm???

I once went to Grantown-on-Spey (27th March, 1989)* and asked for white pudding, chips and peas.

The chip shop owner looked at me rather angrily and said, and I quote,

"Och there's nae call for peas rooond here!!!"

I just had white pudding, chips and red sauce but it wasn't the same.

*I remember the date exactly because it was the day before I saw a rare bird.
