A celebration of the stupid things folk say or do...

When I was at school this girl I knew kept telling me about these documentaries about aliens. I looked on TV for them but couldn't find them. I asked one day exactly what time they were on and what channel. The next day she said 'did you see it? It was really interesting. This woman's body got taken over'.

I had to tell her the 'documentary' she had found so interesting was The X-Files.

I did once believe a yarn, that two boys at school spun me, about them having found a tunnel, or large drain pipe, that was a portal to some kind of time slip/travel.

I knew it didn't make sense, but I so wanted to believe it cos one of the boys was my country dancing partner, who I had a major crush on.

My saving grace is that I was only 8 or 9 at the time!

When my friend had a bad case of acne I told her that the best thing was cigarette ash cos the carbon in it dried the acne up. So she got her boyfriends ash tray and smeared ash all over her spots.

the amount of people who thought it was a documentary though - i bumped into someone only last week who mentioned it. didnt know what to say...

My step-mother-in-law, who is famous for her empty-headedness, on hearing of the Queen Mother's death said 'It's sad she died so close to the Queen's Golden Jubilee - just like her father - he died before the Queen's Coronation and it must have spoilt it for her not having him there'
