Lyme Regis Marzipan V. Thornton's Almond Marzipan
The Lyme Regis is a nice chunky, weighty bar, the plain chocolate coating having a pleasantly rich dark smell. The centre bites with a slightly stodgy, dumpy thickness, the texture once worked round the mouth is fairly wholesome and pleasant. The flavour of marzipan is to my taste not strong enough, lacking that real almond hoomph. An average bar, which starts well but trails off disappointingly. A neutral after taste.
Would I return? Maybe.

The Thorntons bar is again covered in plain chocolate, but it's smell is odd and slightly rubbery? It's bite is much crisper than the LR, the relatively brittle chocolate giving way to a light yummy centre. The marzipan flavour is quite noticeable, though rather sweet. A pleasant after taste, with lingering almond flavours. All in all a good bar, blowing LR out of the water.
