Has anyone had these.  Spare ribs, or chicken wings in a Coca-Cola sauce.

They are nice.

Just found a nice recipe for spare ribs and coca cola that includes leeks, spring onion and ginger. I think it is a Japanese recipe and sounds nice.

Preparation time:5 minutes
Cooking time:45 minutes
Serves:4 as a main course

Ingredients:

  • 600g pork spare ribs
  • 150ml Coca Cola
  • 2.5 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 thumb size of ginger (sliced)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 pinch of mild chilli spice

    For poaching

  • 1/2 thumb size of ginger (sliced)
  • 10cm of leeks(roughly chopped) or
  • 2 spring onions (roughly chopped)

Method:

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 200?C (390?F) or gas mark 6.
  2. Poach the ribs in a pan of boiling water with the sliced ginger and leek (or spring onion) for about 2 minutes.
  3. Place the ribs onto a wire rack on a baking sheet in the oven and cook for 30 minutes.
  4. In the meantime, bring the Coca Cola, soy sauce, the rest of the sliced ginger, sugar and mild chilli spice up to the boil in a frying pan and reduce the sauce until about half the original amount remains.
  5. As soon as you take the ribs out of the oven, put them in the sauce which must be hot, and turn them over several times until the ribs are coated all over. Continue to cook until the ribs have absorbed most of the sauce.
  6. Serve hot with vegetables such as Lettuce with Oriental Sauce.
Cook's tip: As an alternative you could replace the spare ribs with pork chops.
