I appreciate that there are some people out there
who find it natural to recoil from plain chocolate.
They're wrong of course, but there's little we can do
but nod patronisingly at them and perhaps hit them a
bit. The blue wrapper Toffee Crisp, with it's
glamorous plain chocolate coating represents the
apogee of chocolate faff. The interior of the bar
provided a sufficient quantity of ancilliary ingredients
to mitigate against the potentially overpowering or -
some may say - sickly plain chocolate coating, while
still remaining effective enough to remind the
customer that this was no girly milk chocolate
diversion. This was confectionary to go to war with.
