The X-Factor
« on: September 22, 2013, 08:14:40 pm »
Anyone bothering to watch this year? I'm not entirely sold on the dual audition idea - it's thrown up some interesting auditions when acts have seemed 'pretty good' in a small room but then clearly don't translate to the big stage, but for anyone who's clearly very strong it seems pointless. Judge-wise, I've got to say I'm enjoying the return of Sharon more than I expected to. In retrospect, Tulisa and Nicole were too close in age - Nicole filled the 'cool big sister' role and Tulisa seemed immature by comparison. Sharon is the mum figure the show has been missing. Okay, it's laughable to suggest she's a music expert, but she does get showbiz.

Oh, and I'm hoping tonight will be the last acoustic version of 'Get Lucky' we're treated to, but somehow I doubt it  ::)

I've seen a couple of shows but only the Saturday ones in front of the judges.  I agree about Sharon. She's totally mad and quite shameful at times but there's a genuine warmth and honesty to her. I have been quite impressed with some of the acts, especially a few of the 'groups' - but one or two auditions have been pitiful.

Anyone still watching? I have to say this is one of the weakest set of finalists I've ever seen. I thought Tamera was the closest thing to an 'obvious' winner, but not so sure now. I think I'm on Team Hannah now - she's got real power in her voice.

No, I'm not watching now as I prefer Strictly and I think X Factor is rather fake by comparison. In past years, when I have got attached to a singer, I have found they always get dropped a few weeks before the final and I'm left having to root for lesser acts. It seems they have already made up their minds who is going to be commercially lucrative and seem to be able to manipulate the results. Maybe that's just the mistrustful me coming out!

I've given up compltely on talent shows. I think Mr. Grohl says it best here:

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

I love Strictly oldspice, and like you I wouldn't miss that for X Factor, or anything they've put up against it so far.
Tower ballroom this weekend... Lovely.  ;D
