The Oxford English Dictionary definition of chocolate is "a food in the form of a paste or solid block made from roasted and ground cacao seeds, typically sweetened and eaten as confectionary."



I really hope it doesn't say that - surely the OED can spell confectionery????

Ah, so according to the OED, white chocolate is not proper chocolate, because it is made from roasted and ground cacao seeds. The white stuff uses cocoa butter exclusively.
