Death By Chocolate
« on: May 22, 2013, 04:24:10 am »
I have mentioned this cake/gateaux before, many, many times on here. I've tried to describe it with little success. These days, lots of restaurants use the Death by Chocolate name to describe any old chocolate fudge cake. But back in the late 80's/eary 90's the original version was available everywhere, and without any cheap imitations. So I was going through some old piccies and stumbled across a photo of one we had for a birthday cake years ago. Based on this appearance, can anyone tell me if it is still available anywhere out there? Under a different name maybe? When you cut it open it was distintive for its inch and a half of lightly coloured chocolate mousse. These things were literally to die for.

Was it a frozen product made by the Sarah Lee company?

Yes, it was frozen. Pretty certain it wasn't Sarah Lee, at least initially. Ring any bells?

I would very much like to locate a dozen or more of them to send to none other than myself. How would I go about doing that?
