Orange Aero returns
« on: April 11, 2011, 02:12:38 pm »
The packaging says 'New' but I'm being a pedant and posting this here, as it's an old product making a comeback. I've really gone off Aero in recent years, but out of nostalgia (and for a quid a slab) I thought I'd have a try. It's actually quite enjoyable, and tastes like I remember. Maybe the flavoured filling makes it more enjoyable than standard Aero? I still can't quite rid myself of the idea that it tastes how peach soap would if covered in chocolate, but maybe that's just me.

In Sainsbury's now if you're interested  :)

I bet Fry's Orange Cream beats it hands down?

Well I definitely prefer it, but I'm a sucker for creams.

Yeah, it annoys me when they claim a product is "new" when it isn't - clearly they think we were all born yesterday.  Or maybe the kids running the marketing department really were born yesterday and think they really have invented something new!  However, unless the recipe has not been tampered with, I guess they could legitimately say it's a new product.  A bit like "new" Bournville "Old Jamaica" - Bournville with a perfumey overtone vaguely reminiscent of the original.

Smurfy is right - Aero is a shadow of its former self. Back when Rowntrees still owned it, it was creamy and bubbly and a really nice bar. I can also remember some of the wonderful flavours available in the 70s such as lime, strawberry and - yes - orange.

I picked up a handful of foreign 'orange aeros' at a car book sale. They were slightly chunky (ie - not flat) but quite small. 5 for £1. They were Ok. Not a patch on the original, but for a Nestle product - OK.
Old but spicey!

I love the coloured centres! I prefer the aero orange over the terry's chocolate orange so pleased to see it's return
